Overview
**Barbexaclone** is an oral barbiturate antiseizure drug consisting of a defined 1:1 salt of phenobarbital and levopropylhexedrine. Its antiseizure activity is principally attributable to the phenobarbital component, which enhances inhibitory gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor signaling and suppresses neuronal excitability. The levopropylhexedrine component is an indirect sympathomimetic stimulant intended to mitigate phenobarbital-associated sedation. Barbexaclone has been marketed as **Maliasin** and is available in Italy as barbesaclone film-coated tablets for epilepsy, including generalized tonic-clonic seizures.
