**Basiliximab + everolimus** is a combination of two immunosuppressive agents frequently used as part of a regimen to prevent organ rejection after kidney transplantation. Basiliximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that binds to the interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain (CD25) on activated T lymphocytes, inhibiting IL-2-mediated T-cell proliferation. Everolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that suppresses downstream signaling in T cells by binding FKBP-12 and inhibiting mTOR, arresting cell cycle progression, reducing cell proliferation, and exerting antiproliferative and antiangiogenic effects. This combination is mainly indicated for rejection prophylaxis in organ transplantation, commonly as part of a multidrug regimen with corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors[1][2][4][9].
