Overview

BB-12 + LGG is a combination of two well-documented probiotic strains—Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (BB-12) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG). Both are live microorganisms that confer health benefits when administered in adequate amounts. The mechanism of action involves colonization of the gut, modulation of the gut microbiota, enhancement of the intestinal barrier function, competitive inhibition against pathogenic bacteria, and modulation of immune responses. Clinical studies have shown that this combination may help prevent or treat antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD), acute gastroenteritis (AGE), support immune defense against respiratory pathogens, improve stool frequency in populations with reduced bowel movements, and potentially benefit children with autism spectrum disorder who have gastrointestinal symptoms[1][2][3][4][5]. The strains are acid and bile resistant to survive gastrointestinal transit[8]. No serious safety concerns have been identified for either strain when used as directed[1].
