Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BC-PIV + S2PM (also known as BC-PIV/S2PM) is a preclinical-stage intranasal and/or intramuscular viral vector vaccine being developed by BioComo, in collaboration with Mie University and MediciNova, for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine utilizes BioComo's proprietary BC-PIV platform, which is a non-transmissible, replication-incompetent viral vector derived from recombinant human parainfluenza virus type 2 (hPIV2). BC-PIV is engineered to display foreign proteins on its surface and inside the viral membrane, preserving their three-dimensional structure and eliciting strong immunogenicity without adjuvants. The active antigen component is a multi-variant SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (S2PM), specifically designed to incorporate receptor-binding domain (RBD)-containing spike antigens from multiple viral strains (including Wuhan, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Kappa, Lambda, Mu, and Omicron variants) to elicit broad protective immunity.
