BCD-248 + daratumumab is an investigational combination therapy being evaluated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. BCD-248 is an original bispecific antibody developed by the Russian biopharmaceutical company Biocad. It is designed to simultaneously target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) on the surface of multiple myeloma cells and CD3 on T-cells, thereby redirecting T-cells to attack and eliminate tumor cells. Daratumumab (Darzalex) is a human IgG1k monoclonal antibody that targets CD38, a protein highly expressed on the surface of multiple myeloma cells. Daratumumab induces tumor cell death through multiple immune-mediated mechanisms, including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), and antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP). The combination is currently being studied in a Phase III clinical trial comparing its efficacy and safety against the standard-of-care DPd regimen (daratumumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone).
