Overview

BCMA + CD38 CAR-T cells are an investigational dual-targeted chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. This therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's T cells to express CARs that simultaneously recognize two distinct antigens highly expressed on malignant plasma cells: B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and CD38. By targeting two antigens, the therapy aims to increase the precision of tumor cell elimination and mitigate the risk of immune escape through antigen loss, a common mechanism of resistance in single-target CAR-T therapies. Clinical evaluation, including studies at Tianjin First Central Hospital, focuses on assessing the safety, persistence, and anti-tumor activity of these dual-targeted cells in patients who have exhausted standard treatment options.
