Overview

BCMA CAR-T (Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein highly expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma. Developed by the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that recognizes and binds to BCMA (TNFRSF17). Upon re-infusion, these engineered T cells identify and eliminate myeloma cells, inducing a targeted anti-tumor immune response. This specific CAR-T product is being evaluated in clinical trials, such as the MAGIC-TIEMM study, as part of advanced immunotherapy strategies for newly diagnosed and ultra-high-risk multiple myeloma, often integrated with other modalities like bispecific antibodies or autologous stem cell transplantation.
