Overview

This BCMA-targeted CAR-T therapy is an autologous cell therapy developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University for the treatment of refractory or relapsed multiple myeloma. The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that specifically recognizes B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein highly expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells. Once infused back into the patient following lymphodepleting chemotherapy, these engineered T cells bind to BCMA-expressing myeloma cells, leading to T-cell activation, expansion, and the direct cytotoxic elimination of the tumor cells. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for patients who have received at least three prior treatment regimens.
