Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BCMA-targeted T-cell engagers (TCEs) are a class of bispecific immunotherapies designed to redirect cytotoxic T cells to eliminate plasma cells and multiple myeloma cells expressing B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA). These molecules typically feature dual-binding arms: one arm binds to BCMA on the surface of target cells, while the other binds to CD3 on T cells, facilitating the formation of an immunological synapse that triggers T-cell activation, cytokine release, and subsequent lysis of the target cells. BCMA-targeted TCEs are primarily developed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, and are increasingly being investigated for severe, refractory antibody-mediated autoimmune diseases (such as systemic lupus erythematosus, idiopathic inflammatory myositis, systemic sclerosis, and autoimmune hemolytic anemia) by depleting autoreactive long-lived plasma cells.
