Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination chemotherapy regimen used for the treatment of advanced-stage Hodgkin's lymphoma. This approach typically involves either sequential administration of these regimens or a PET-guided strategy where patients start with ABVD and switch to BEACOPPesc if interim PET scan shows positive results. BEACOPPesc (escalated BEACOPP) consists of: - Bleomycin: 10,000 units/m² IV on day 8 - Etoposide: 200 mg/m² IV on days 1-3 - Doxorubicin (Adriamycin): 35 mg/m² IV on day 1 - Cyclophosphamide: 1250 mg/m² IV on day 1 - Vincristine: 1.4 mg/m² (max 2mg) IV on day 8 - Procarbazine: 100 mg/m² orally on days 1-7 - Prednisolone: 40 mg/m² orally on days 1-14 BEACOPPesc is typically administered in 21-day cycles. ABVD consists of: - Doxorubicin (Adriamycin): 25 mg/m² IV - Bleomycin: 10 mg/m² IV - Vinblastine: 6 mg/m² IV - Dacarbazine: 375 mg/m² IV ABVD is typically administered on days 1 and 15 of a 28-day cycle. BEACOPPesc provides better initial disease control but with higher toxicity, while ABVD has a more favorable toxicity profile.
