Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CHF 5993 (marketed under the brand name Trimbow) is an extrafine, fixed-dose triple combination inhaled therapy developed by Chiesi Farmaceutici for the maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It contains three active ingredients: beclometasone dipropionate (an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation), formoterol fumarate (a long-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist that promotes bronchodilation), and glycopyrronium bromide (a long-acting muscarinic antagonist that prevents bronchoconstriction). Formulated to deliver extrafine particles that reach both central and peripheral airways, CHF 5993 is administered via a pressurized metered dose inhaler (pMDI) or a dry powder inhaler (DPI) to improve lung function and reduce exacerbations in patients whose symptoms are inadequately controlled by dual therapies.
