Overview
bee venom + capsaicin (Rubeeven) is a topical analgesic cream developed by the New Zealand-based company HoneyLab. The formulation combines the desensitizing effects of capsaicin with the anti-inflammatory properties of bee venom (apitoxin). Capsaicin acts as a potent agonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) receptor; chronic application leads to the depletion of Substance P and the desensitization of nociceptive nerve fibers. Bee venom contains various bioactive peptides, most notably melittin, which has been studied for its ability to modulate inflammatory pathways and provide relief in musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis and muscle strains. The product is marketed as a natural alternative for the management of joint and muscle pain.
