Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bee venom immunotherapy + Advax is an investigational allergen immunotherapy developed by Vaxine Pty Ltd for the treatment of bee venom allergy, specifically targeting anaphylaxis from European honeybee stings. The product consists of honeybee venom allergens combined with Advax, a novel noninflammatory polysaccharide adjuvant derived from delta inulin, which was developed through the NIH's Adjuvant Development Program. The therapy is designed to modulate the immune system's IgE/IgG4 axis by suppressing the allergic (TH2/IgE) response and promoting a protective IgG4 response to bee venom allergens. In a single-centre, randomized controlled Phase 1/2 trial involving 27 adults, the Advax-adjuvanted regimen was well tolerated and demonstrated enhanced and more durable IgG4 immunogenicity compared to standard venom immunotherapy alone.
