Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BEIZRAY (BH009) is an improved, polysorbate 80-free formulation of the microtubule inhibitor docetaxel, developed by Zhuhai Beihai Biotech. Standard docetaxel formulations typically utilize polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) as a solvent, which is associated with severe hypersensitivity reactions and fluid retention, often necessitating corticosteroid premedication. By eliminating polysorbate 80, BEIZRAY aims to provide a safer and more tolerable treatment profile. The drug acts by binding to tubulin, promoting microtubule assembly and inhibiting depolymerization, which disrupts mitosis and leads to cancer cell death. In October 2024, BEIZRAY received FDA approval for the treatment of breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, prostate cancer, gastric adenocarcinoma, and head and neck cancer. It is also undergoing clinical evaluation in Phase I trials for ovarian carcinoma and other solid tumors.
