Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bell's Calamine Lotion is an over-the-counter topical formulation developed by Bell's Healthcare. It contains a combination of calamine (15% w/v) and zinc oxide (5% w/v) in a base formulated to British Pharmacopoeia (B.P.) standards. The lotion is indicated for the relief of minor skin irritations, including sunburn, dermatitis, eczema, and slight abrasions. It functions through physical mechanisms: providing a cooling sensation via evaporation to alleviate pain and swelling, acting as a mild astringent, and forming a protective barrier over sensitive or abraded skin. It is manufactured in the UK in GMP/MHRA approved facilities and is suitable for adults and children aged 1 year and above.
