Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Belotecan + ifosfamide is an investigational combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of belotecan, a camptothecin analog and topoisomerase I inhibitor, and ifosfamide, an alkylating agent. This combination has been studied in clinical trials for the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Belotecan inhibits DNA topoisomerase I, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis in rapidly dividing tumor cells. Ifosfamide acts as a cytotoxic alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA strands, thereby inhibiting DNA replication and transcription. The combination aims to enhance antitumor efficacy by targeting cancer cells through complementary mechanisms[1][2].
