Overview

beLP3 + EF-2001 is a parabiotic combination developed by the Korean company Bereum. It is composed of four heat-inactivated bacterial strains: *Lactobacillus plantarum*, *Lactobacillus casei*, and *Lactobacillus acidophilus* (collectively known as beLP3), along with *Enterococcus faecalis* (strain EF-2001). Unlike traditional probiotics, parabiotics (also known as postbiotics or heat-killed probiotics) consist of non-viable microbial cells or cell fragments that retain biological activity and provide health benefits, primarily through immunomodulation and interaction with the gut microbiota. This specific 4-strain mixture is marketed as a B2B ingredient for use in pharmaceuticals, functional foods, cosmetics, and animal feed. It is currently undergoing human clinical trials to evaluate its efficacy and safety in various health applications.
