Overview
Beltavac is a polymerized allergen extract (allergoid) developed by Probelte Pharma for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and rhinoconjunctivitis caused by house dust mites. It consists of a mixture of *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Dermatophagoides farinae* allergens that have been polymerized with glutaraldehyde. This chemical modification reduces the allergenicity (IgE binding) of the extract while maintaining its immunogenicity, allowing for a safer and more efficient subcutaneous immunotherapy. The drug works by desensitizing the immune system to house dust mite allergens, thereby reducing IgE-mediated allergic responses. It is currently in Phase III clinical development, notably through the PROACAROS study, which assesses its efficacy and safety in patients with allergic rhinoconjunctivitis associated or not with asthma.
