Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Benorilate is a small molecule ester of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) and paracetamol (acetaminophen). It functions as a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in the gastrointestinal tract and liver into its two active components. As a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), it exhibits analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins. It was designed to reduce the gastric irritation typically associated with aspirin while providing the combined therapeutic benefits of both parent drugs. It is primarily used for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Hunan Zhongnan Pharmaceutical is a known developer and manufacturer of benorilate tablets.
