Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Benzo[B]Thiophene-2-Boronic Acid is a non-beta-lactam-based small molecule inhibitor of beta-lactamase enzymes, specifically targeting class C beta-lactamases such as AmpC from *Escherichia coli*. It has demonstrated high affinity for *E. coli* AmpC and the ability to potentiate the activity of beta-lactam antibiotics, like amoxicillin and ceftazidime, against bacteria expressing class C beta-lactamases. This compound is being investigated as a potential therapeutic agent for treating beta-lactam-resistant bacterial infections.
