Overview
Dermin Ointment is an approved topical combination of benzoic acid (6%) and salicylic acid (3%), classically known as Whitfield's ointment. Developed by Jayson Pharmaceuticals, it is indicated for the treatment of superficial fungal skin infections, including ringworm (tinea corporis), athlete's foot (tinea pedis), and barber's itch (tinea barbae), as well as to accelerate desquamation. Benzoic acid acts as a fungistatic agent to inhibit fungal growth, while salicylic acid acts as a keratolytic agent to soften and shed the infected outer layer of skin, enhancing the penetration of benzoic acid and facilitating the eradication of the infection.
