Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Benzoyl peroxide + sulfur is a topical combination medication used primarily to treat acne. Benzoyl peroxide acts as an antibacterial agent by reducing the presence of *Cutibacterium acnes* (formerly *Propionibacterium acnes*) on the skin and has a mild drying effect that decreases oiliness. Sulfur promotes drying and peeling of the skin, helping to remove dead skin cells and reduce clogged pores. The combination works synergistically to decrease inflammation and prevent bacterial growth on the skin[1][2]. It is classified as a topical acne agent.
