Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Benzoyl peroxide + sulphur is a topical combination therapy primarily used for the treatment of acne vulgaris. Benzoyl peroxide acts as a potent oxidizing and antimicrobial agent that targets *Cutibacterium acnes*, promotes skin cell turnover, and helps clear pores. Sulphur provides keratolytic properties, drawing out excess oil from blocked pores and contributing additional antibacterial activity. This combination is specifically formulated to address both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions, including comedones, papules, and pustules. It has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials for Grade I and Grade II acne and is marketed in Brazil as an over-the-counter product.
