Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Berberine hydrochloride + bifidobacterium group is a combination pharmaceutical product primarily utilized for the treatment of intestinal disorders. It consists of berberine hydrochloride, an isoquinoline alkaloid with broad-spectrum antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, and live *Bifidobacterium* (typically *Bifidobacterium infantis*), which serves as a probiotic. The berberine component functions by inhibiting the growth of intestinal pathogens and suppressing inflammatory pathways such as NF-κB, while the *Bifidobacterium* component helps restore the natural balance of the gut microbiota through competitive exclusion and the production of organic acids. This synergistic approach is indicated for acute and chronic diarrhea, bacterial dysentery, and gastrointestinal dysfunction resulting from intestinal dysbiosis.
