Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BAIBA + ABA is an oral combination therapy consisting of beta-aminoisobutyric acid (BAIBA) and abscisic acid (ABA). BAIBA is an exercise-induced myokine that promotes the browning of white adipose tissue by upregulating Uncoupling Protein 1 (UCP-1) through Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor alpha (PPARα) signaling. ABA is a plant hormone that acts as a ligand for the Lanthionine Synthetase C-Like 2 (LANCL2) receptor, stimulating the secretion of Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1). This combination is being investigated as an adjunct to lifestyle modifications for the management of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), particularly in South Asian populations where impaired thermogenesis and incretin signaling are prevalent. Clinical data suggests it effectively reduces body weight, waist circumference, and hyperandrogenic symptoms such as hirsutism and acne.
