Beta tricalcium phosphate + collagen is a synthetic bone graft substitute composed of porous beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) particles and type I collagen fibers. This composite is designed to mimic the natural structure of bone, providing both an osteoconductive inorganic phase (β-TCP) and a biocompatible organic matrix (collagen). The β-TCP component releases calcium and phosphate ions that promote osteoblast differentiation, alkaline phosphatase activity, and new bone formation. Collagen enhances cell attachment, proliferation, vascularization, and integration with host tissue. The combination results in a highly porous scaffold with good mechanical properties suitable for repairing bone defects due to trauma or disease. It is primarily used in orthopedic surgery, dental applications (such as guided bone regeneration), and other reconstructive procedures where bone regeneration is required[1][3][4][7].
