Beta-tricalcium phosphate + recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor is a combination medical product designed to promote bone regeneration, repair, and healing. Beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) is a bioresorbable, osteoconductive ceramic commonly used as a scaffold or bone graft substitute, facilitating the in-growth of new bone by mimicking the mineral phase of natural bone[1][2][4]. Recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor (rhbFGF, also known as FGF-2) is a protein growth factor that stimulates proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts and mesenchymal stem cells, augments angiogenesis, and accelerates tissue repair. The combination product leverages β-TCP as a scaffold for structural support and gradual resorption, delivering rhbFGF locally to the defect site to enhance cellular recruitment, proliferation, vascularization, and osteogenesis, making it suitable for orthopedic, maxillofacial, and dental surgery requiring bone defect repair. Primary indications include large bone defects, non-unions, and sites requiring accelerated bone healing.
