Overview
A combination therapy consisting of methotrexate (a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug), cyclosporine (an immunosuppressant), and intraarticular betamethasone (a corticosteroid). This regimen is used primarily for treating early active rheumatoid arthritis. Clinical studies have shown that this combination provides excellent disease control and can stop the progression of joint erosions in patients with early active RA who have a poor prognosis. The addition of cyclosporine to methotrexate and betamethasone improves certain clinical responses (ACR20 and ACR-N).
