Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is not a single combination drug but rather two separate corticosteroid medications. Both betamethasone and dexamethasone are potent synthetic glucocorticoids used to treat inflammatory conditions, allergic reactions, and other disorders. They have similar mechanisms of action, binding to glucocorticoid receptors to inhibit pro-inflammatory signals and promote anti-inflammatory signals. Both medications can be administered through various routes including oral, injectable, and topical formulations. They differ in their pharmacokinetic profiles, with betamethasone having a longer half-life (approximately 11 hours) compared to dexamethasone (approximately 5.5 hours).
