Begent Cream is a topical combination dermatological preparation containing the synthetic corticosteroid betamethasone dipropionate and the aminoglycoside antibiotic gentamicin sulfate. Betamethasone dipropionate is a highly potent glucocorticoid that exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by binding to glucocorticoid receptors and inhibiting inflammatory transcription factors. Gentamicin sulfate is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and exerting bactericidal activity. Begent Cream is developed by Global Pharmaceuticals and is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis, that are complicated by or at risk of secondary bacterial infections.
