Overview
Betamethasone dipropionate + salicylic acid is a topical combination medication used to treat dry, scaly skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Betamethasone dipropionate is a potent synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid that acts as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive agent by reducing swelling, redness, and itching in the skin. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent (a type of salicylate) that softens and removes the outer layer of scales on the skin by increasing moisture content and dissolving intercellular "cement," thereby enhancing penetration of betamethasone to deeper layers. This combination provides both anti-inflammatory effects from the corticosteroid and enhanced descaling/penetration from the keratolytic action[1][2][6].
