Bevacizumab + carboplatin + etoposide is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily in the treatment of certain cancers, including recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC)[1][4]. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby blocking angiogenesis, which is critical for tumor growth. Carboplatin and etoposide are cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents; carboplatin forms DNA crosslinks leading to apoptosis, while etoposide inhibits topoisomerase II, resulting in DNA strand breaks and cell death[8]. The combination leverages anti-angiogenic effects with direct cytotoxicity to improve antitumor activity. This regimen has shown activity in recurrent GBM[1] and has been studied as part of first-line therapy for ES-SCLC[4].
