Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy primarily used in oncology settings. It has been studied in a phase II trial for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC) [1]. The combination demonstrated promising results with favorable response rates, time to progression, and survival outcomes. The treatment regimen in the phase II trial involved Irinotecan (60 mg/m2) on days 1, 8, 15; Carboplatin (AUC=4) on day 1; and Bevacizumab (10 mg/kg) on days 1 and 15, administered intravenously every 28 days for up to six cycles. Patients without progression received maintenance Bevacizumab afterward [1]. Efficacy Data (from phase II trial in 51 patients with extensive-stage SCLC): - Objective response rate: 84% (95% CI 71-93%) - Complete responses: 1 patient - Partial responses: 42 patients - Stable disease: 2 patients (4%) - Progressive disease: 2 patients - Median time to progression: 9.13 months (95% CI 7.36-9.46 months) - Median overall survival: 12.1 months (95% CI 9.6-13.5 months) - 1-year overall survival: 51% - 2-year overall survival: 14% [1] Safety Profile: The most common grade 3/4 toxicities (≥10%) were neutropenia (39%), thrombocytopenia (22%), dehydration (10%), diarrhea (31%), fatigue (20%), and pulmonary symptoms (10%) [1]. Notably, no significant bleeding occurred during the trial [1].
