This is a combination regimen consisting of five anticancer agents: bevacizumab, cisplatin, erlotinib, gefitinib, and pemetrexed. Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby blocking angiogenesis and starving tumors of their blood supply[3][4][5]. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks and induces apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Erlotinib and gefitinib are small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitors targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), inhibiting downstream signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation. Pemetrexed is an antifolate antineoplastic agent that disrupts folate-dependent metabolic processes essential for cell replication. This combination targets multiple hallmarks of cancer—angiogenesis, DNA replication/repair, and EGFR-driven proliferation—and may be used experimentally or in clinical trials for advanced non-small cell lung cancer or other solid tumors where multi-targeted therapy is warranted.
