Overview

Bevacizumab + diclofenac is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents administered together, primarily via intravitreal injection, for the treatment of ophthalmic conditions such as diabetic macular edema. Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby reducing abnormal blood vessel growth and vascular permeability. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes and also has some activity against the lipoxygenase pathway, leading to reduced inflammation and prostaglandin synthesis. The combination aims to leverage both anti-angiogenic and anti-inflammatory mechanisms for improved therapeutic outcomes in retinal diseases[1][2].
