Bevacizumab + erythropoietin is a combination of two biologic drugs administered together, typically in the context of clinical research or off-label use. Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby blocking angiogenesis and reducing blood supply to tumors or abnormal retinal vessels. Erythropoietin is a glycoprotein hormone (or its recombinant analogs) that stimulates red blood cell production by acting as an agonist at the erythropoietin receptor on erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow. This combination has been studied for potential synergistic effects, such as in refractory diabetic macular edema (DME) and cancer-related anemia, but evidence suggests limited additional benefit over bevacizumab alone for DME and increased risk of thromboembolic events when used together in oncology settings[1][2][3].
