Bevacizumab + ipilimumab is a combination of two monoclonal antibody therapies used in oncology, particularly studied for metastatic melanoma. Bevacizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby blocking angiogenesis, the process by which tumors develop new blood vessels to sustain their growth. Ipilimumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that blocks cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4), an immune checkpoint receptor on T cells, enhancing the immune system's ability to recognize and destroy cancer cells. The combination aims to simultaneously inhibit tumor angiogenesis and enhance anti-tumor immunity. Clinical studies have shown this regimen can be safely administered with evidence of increased immune cell infiltration into tumors and promising disease control rates in advanced melanoma[1][4].
