Bevacizumab + nab paclitaxel is a combination therapy consisting of two agents with complementary mechanisms of action, used primarily in the treatment of various advanced solid tumors. Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and neutralizes vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby inhibiting angiogenesis—the formation of new blood vessels essential for tumor growth and metastasis[4][8]. Nab-paclitaxel is an albumin-bound formulation of the cytotoxic agent paclitaxel, designed to enhance drug delivery to tumors by exploiting albumin-mediated transport pathways and reducing hypersensitivity reactions associated with solvent-based formulations[4][5][7]. Nab-paclitaxel disrupts microtubule function, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. The combination has been investigated in multiple phase II studies for diseases such as platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, metastatic neuroendocrine carcinoma, and advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), among others[1][3][4]. This regimen aims to leverage antiangiogenic effects from bevacizumab alongside direct cytotoxicity from nab-paclitaxel.
