This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs: bevacizumab, oxaliplatin, and fluorouracil. Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), thereby blocking angiogenesis and reducing tumor blood supply. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in cancer cells. Fluorouracil (5-FU) is an antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase, disrupting DNA synthesis and cell division. This combination is primarily used in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer, often as part of regimens such as FOLFOX or modified de Gramont protocols[1][2][3][4][5][6]. The addition of bevacizumab to oxaliplatin/fluorouracil-based chemotherapy has been shown to improve progression-free survival in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer[6][8].
