Overview

Bevacizumab + ranibizumab is a combination of two monoclonal antibody drugs that inhibit vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). Both agents are used primarily in the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other retinal vascular diseases. Bevacizumab is a full-length humanized monoclonal antibody, while ranibizumab is an antigen-binding fragment derived from the same parent molecule but engineered for intraocular use. Both drugs act by binding to VEGF-A, preventing it from activating its receptors on endothelial cells, thereby inhibiting abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the retina. This combination may be considered in research or clinical settings where both agents are administered together or compared directly for efficacy and safety[1][2][6].
