Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BI 144807 + ketoconazole refers to a clinical pharmacokinetic study regimen rather than a fixed-dose combination drug product. BI 144807 (also known as AKST4290 or ALK4290) is an orally active small molecule antagonist of the C-C chemokine receptor type 3 (CCR3), which was originally developed by Boehringer Ingelheim and later licensed to Alkahest. It was investigated for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD) and asthma. Ketoconazole, a potent inhibitor of the Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzyme, was co-administered in clinical trials (such as NCT01707940) to evaluate the influence of CYP3A4 inhibition on the pharmacokinetics, safety, and tolerability of BI 144807 in healthy subjects. The development of BI 144807 has been discontinued.
