Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BI 1820237 + BI 456906 is an investigational combination of two novel peptide drugs developed for the treatment of overweight and obesity. BI 456906 (also known as survodutide) is a dual agonist at the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) and the glucagon receptor (GCGR), while BI 1820237 is a selective agonist of the neuropeptide Y2 receptor (NPY2R)[4]. Preclinical studies show that BI 1820237 alone causes transient food intake reduction, but its greatest effect appears in combination with BI 456906, where robust and synergistic weight loss is observed above what is possible with either agent alone. The combination is currently under clinical evaluation for its impact on brain activity and body weight regulation in obese/overweight subjects[1][4].
