bicarbonate Ringer's solution

Bicarbonate Ringer's solution is a balanced crystalloid intravenous fluid designed for fluid resuscitation and the maintenance of electrolyte and acid-base balance. Unlike traditional crystalloids such as 0.9% normal saline, which can lead to hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis, or lactated Ringer's solution, which requires hepatic metabolism of lactate to generate bicarbonate, this solution contains sodium bicarbonate as a direct buffering agent. This physiological composition is intended to support renal perfusion and reduce the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) and systemic inflammation. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials, such as those led by Peking Union Medical College Hospital, for the initial resuscitation of patients with severe acute pancreatitis to improve 28-day mortality and renal outcomes.
