Overview

A probiotic mixture consisting of three specific strains: *Bifidobacterium infantis* M-63, *Bifidobacterium breve* M-16V, and *Bifidobacterium longum* BB536. Developed and evaluated by researchers at Federico II University, this combination is intended to treat abdominal pain-associated functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) in children, specifically irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional dyspepsia (FD). The mechanism involves modulating the gut microbiota and potentially influencing the gut-brain axis to reduce pain frequency and intensity. Clinical trials have shown significant improvement in IBS symptoms, though results for FD were less conclusive.
