Bifidobacterium infantis PBCLN-014 + human milk oligosaccharides PBCLN-010 is an investigational synbiotic therapy developed by Prolacta Bioscience. [2, 7] It combines the probiotic strain *Bifidobacterium longum* subspecies *infantis* PBCLN-014 with prebiotic human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) PBCLN-010, which are derived from donor human milk. [2, 1] This therapy is designed to modulate and restore a healthy gut microbiome. [2, 3] The *B. infantis* strain is uniquely adapted to metabolize HMOs, and by providing both the beneficial bacteria and its specific food source, the therapy aims to promote the selective growth and engraftment of *B. infantis* in the gut to displace pathogenic bacteria. [2, 3, 14] The combination was being evaluated in a Phase 2a clinical trial for adult patients with blood cancers undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) to reduce complications associated with a disrupted microbiome, such as infections and graft-versus-host disease. [2, 3, 4] Previous studies in healthy adults demonstrated that the therapy could safely and predictably control the gut microbiome. [2, 5]
