Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bifidobacterium lactis UBBLa-70 + fructooligosaccharide is a synbiotic formulation consisting of a specific probiotic strain, *Bifidobacterium lactis* UBBLa-70, and a prebiotic fiber, fructooligosaccharide (FOS). This combination is designed to synergistically modulate the gut microbiota to improve host metabolic health, particularly in the context of obesity and metabolic syndrome. Clinical research, including trial NCT02505854, has demonstrated that this synbiotic can alter serum metabolite profiles—such as increasing pyruvate and alanine while decreasing branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) and citrate—which are linked to reduced fat mass and systemic inflammation when used alongside a low-energy diet. The probiotic component, UBBLa-70, was originally developed by UAS Labs (now part of Chr. Hansen).
