Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A probiotic combination drug consisting of live *Bifidobacterium longum*, *Lactobacillus acidophilus*, and *Enterococcus faecalis*. It is widely used in China under the brand name BIFICO (Peifeikang) to treat intestinal dysbiosis and associated conditions like diarrhea and constipation. The product works by replenishing beneficial gut flora, which in turn inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria, lowers intestinal pH through the production of organic acids, and supports the integrity of the intestinal barrier. In clinical research, such as the Phase 4 trial conducted by West China Hospital of Sichuan University, it is being evaluated for its ability to alleviate gastrointestinal symptom clusters and improve quality of life in patients undergoing colorectal cancer surgery.
