Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This oral probiotic mixture is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) composed of four specific bacterial strains: *Bifidobacterium longum* CICC P0001, *Lactobacillus plantarum* P-8, *Bifidobacterium infantum* CICC 6069, and *Lactobacillus reuteri* CICC 6132. Developed by the Chinese PLA General Hospital, the formulation is designed to modulate the gut microbiota as a therapeutic intervention for Tourette's syndrome in children. The treatment rationale is based on the gut-brain axis, suggesting that the restoration of microbial balance and the subsequent modulation of microbial metabolites can influence neurological pathways and neurotransmitter signaling associated with tic disorders. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials to assess its efficacy in reducing tic severity and improving behavioral outcomes.
