Overview

Bifidobacterium longum R0175 + oligofructose is a synbiotic formulation consisting of a specific probiotic strain, *Bifidobacterium longum* R0175 (also known as Rosell-175), and the prebiotic fiber oligofructose. This combination is primarily classified as a psychobiotic, designed to influence mental health and cognitive function through the gut-brain axis. The probiotic component, R0175, has been shown to modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, thereby reducing systemic cortisol levels and attenuating the physiological response to stress. Oligofructose acts as a selective substrate, promoting the colonization and metabolic activity of the Bifidobacterium strain within the gastrointestinal tract. Clinical research suggests that this synbiotic can improve symptoms of psychological distress, anxiety, and depression by reducing neuroinflammation and maintaining intestinal barrier integrity.
