Overview

**bifonazole + urea** is a topical combination drug used in the treatment of fungal nail infections (onychomycosis)[1][2][3]. It consists of bifonazole, an imidazole antifungal agent, and urea, a keratolytic agent that softens the nail plate. Bifonazole acts by inhibiting lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase, interfering with ergosterol synthesis required for fungal cell membrane integrity, leading to cell death[3]. Urea acts by breaking down keratin, allowing better penetration of bifonazole into the infected tissue[1][2]. The product is mainly indicated for non-traumatic topical treatment of onychomycoses, where urea facilitates painless removal of the affected nail, followed by antifungal elimination of the pathogen.
